The Starter Kit That Packs a Punch
For a price of $599, the Vivint Starter Kit unleashes a bundle of security goodness. Inside, you’ll find the Vivint Smart Hub, a motion sensor, a leak sensor, two door and window sensors, and a generous $100 credit towards additional sensors. If you need more devices, they range from $50 to $399, giving you plenty of options to build the perfect setup.
Vivint: Control at Your Fingertips
Vivint boasts an impressive lineup of wireless security sensors, all managed through the Vivint Smart Hub. This wired, touch-screen device connects via Ethernet and cellular networks, offering a siren, speaker, microphone, and a 24-hour backup battery. Even during power outages, your security stays intact.
Eyes Everywhere
Vivint takes surveillance seriously with indoor, outdoor, and doorbell cameras that offer advanced features, including person detection. The icing on the cake? You can opt for the Smart Drive for continuous 24/7 video recording. Keep an eye on your property through the Smart Hub, and when someone rings your doorbell, you’ll have a live feed to interact with visitors.
Smart Home Synergy
Beyond security, Vivint offers a wide array of smart home products, including the MyQ smart garage door controller, smart thermostats, Kwikset smart locks, and smart plugs. Integrate them seamlessly into your security system or add them later – the choice is yours.
Revolutionary Car Guard
Vivint’s Car Guard is a game-changer. This device plugs into your vehicle’s OBD port, connecting to your home security system. It alerts you when your car alarm goes off and tracks your vehicle’s location. Set it to turn off automatically when you’re home or leave it on to capture any would-be car burglars.
A Closer Look at Vivint’s Cameras
Vivint’s cameras are a standout feature, with options like the Outdoor Camera Pro that sports a whistle and red light to deter intruders. These cameras can detect people, animals, packages, vehicles, and sounds, providing you with comprehensive security. The wired Video Doorbell Camera boasts a wide field of view and can even notify you when packages arrive. You can purchase the Doorbell Camera separately, even without a Vivint system.
Monitoring with a Personal Touch
Vivint requires professional monitoring for all its home security systems, starting at $29.99 per month. You can opt for equipment financing over 42 or 60 months. If you prefer to buy your equipment upfront (minimum $599.99 purchase), you can go month-to-month with monitoring. Please note that monthly pricing is not available for DIY or reactivated systems.
Unveiling the Vivint Basic Security System
We got our hands on the Vivint Basic security system, which includes a SkyControl Panel, security sensors, a Kwikset smart lock, a video doorbell, and smoke and CO monitors. Later, we added the Vivint Outdoor Camera Pro for an extra layer of security.
SkyControl Panel: The Brain of the Operation
The SkyControl Panel, now replaced by the Vivint Smart Hub, served as the heart of our security system. It was the command center for all connected devices, offering live-streamed footage, two-way audio communication, and the ability to arm and disarm our security system. The SkyControl Panel also provided access to cloud storage, all while being wall-mounted or used as a standalone device.
Vivint: Versatile Security Sensors
Our Vivint package included motion sensors, entry sensors for doors and windows, and glass break sensors, all wirelessly connected to the SkyControl Panel. These sensors alerted us and the monitoring team whenever they detected activity.
Ping Indoor Camera: A New Perspective
The Vivint Ping Indoor Camera was a highlight for us, boasting a clear 1080p HD display and a wide 155-degree field of view. It performed admirably in low-light conditions, even outshining some competitors. The infrared LED sensors allowed for night vision, and two-way audio communication came in handy for more than just security, making our household more civilized.
Vivint Outdoor Camera Pro: The Game-Changer
Vivint’s Outdoor Camera Pro earned our admiration with its 1080p HD display, 4K sensors, HDR, and a generous 140-degree field of view. It excelled in capturing details and reducing light distortion. The night vision and two-way audio were top-notch, and storage options mirrored those of the indoor camera. The true gem was its artificial intelligence, which distinguished between people and other moving objects, minimizing false alarms. It even had a siren that could reach 85 decibels, alerting the neighborhood when needed.
Vivint Doorbell Camera: A Remote Welcome
The Vivint Doorbell Camera, priced at $249.99, allowed us to remotely answer our door, creating the illusion of being home. Despite its 720p HD video display, it featured person detection, setting it apart from the competition. While its price might seem a bit steep, the convenience it offers is worth considering.
Vivint offers a comprehensive security solution with top-tier cameras, intelligent features, and professional monitoring. While some components may come with a higher price tag, the peace of mind and innovative technology they provide make it a worthwhile investment for those seeking the best in home security. Secure your home with Vivint and experience the future of smart security. If you are a military family, you may qualify for their military discount.
